Step into Wellbeing
The Step Into Wellbeing Project involves different mediums of support for clients, family or friends of survivors as well as communities and professionals to offer support and information on various topics depending on the type of support that you may require.
What services are available?
Psychoeducation classes
The psychoeducation classes are on offer for our clients and for the friends and family members of clients. These classes offer support by helping our clients to continue or develop their skills that they may have enhanced during the counselling process. The courses that are offered are Stress, Resilience and Emotions, Healthy Relationships and an Introduction to Stepping Stones North Wales.
These courses are to enable clients to enhance their wellbeing toolkits and build on their resilience skills and these run over different periods of time. These can be offered in-person or online depending on the demand and availability of those running the course.
Introduction to Stepping Stones North Wales
The Introduction to Stepping Stones North Wales is a one-off course that is offered to our clients on the waiting list and offers you an opportunity to learn more about the different services we offer here at Stepping Stones North Wales, but it also gives you the opportunity to meet the staff members here at Stepping Stones that you may come across at some point in your journey with us.
Stress, Resilience and Emotions
The Stress, Resilience and Emotions course runs over a 6-week period and is designed to offer the people we work with a chance to build on the skills they have learnt in counselling or can be used as an alternative to counselling, if this is something that you are not ready for at the moment. It looks at opportunities to learn about coping with the day-to-day management of your life and how to look at building on techniques to manage your stress in a healthy and manageable way, building up on techniques to cope with difficult emotions and looking at building on those key resilience skills. The sessions will last approximately 2 hours per week and all resources will be provided for you.
Healthy Relationships
Our healthy relationships course works slightly differently and we offer 8 sessions which will look at different relationships that may affect people’s lives and therefore you will sign up to the week that may be of most relevance to you and do not have to attend every session as some of the content may not be relevant to some of the people that we work with. For example, one session may be looking at relationships with family members, another session may look at relationships with work or with money or religion, or we may look at romantic relationships, so we recognize that these may not fit into everyone’s lives. This does not mean that you cannot attend all 8 sessions, you are more than welcome to. This course will also be offered online and in-person and all resources will be provided.
When can I complete the courses?
These can be done alongside your counselling, before your counselling begins or after you have finished with your counsellor. They are NOT therapy based sessions, but looks at building on your resilience, wellbeing and coping strategies.
